Yumi Babinec joined the West Valley College Sports Medicine team in September 2019. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2015 with a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and Kinesiology. She then graduated from San Jose State University (SJSU) in 2017, where she worked primarily with softball and assisted with women’s tennis as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. 

Prior to coming to West Valley, Yumi worked as a medical assistant at a sports medicine office (WCSI) and went on to work as an Assistant Athletic Trainer back at SJSU for an additional two years. At SJSU for the second time, she primarily worked with women’s gymnastics but also worked with the men’s water polo, women’s swimming and diving, and men’s golf teams.

Yumi was born and raised in Bear Lake, MI and moved to California in 2015. She currently resides in San Jose and, in her free time, spends most of her time with her dog, Finn. Yumi enjoys hiking, reading, and binge-watching pretty much any medical show on TV.
