Sports Medicine

Sports Medicine staff

The West Valley College Sports Medicine staff, under the direction of team physicians Erica Fisk, MD and Kevin Murray, MD, provides comprehensive medical services to 11 intercollegiate teams and over 300 student athletes.

Two full-time and two part-time Certified Athletic Trainers and a staff of Student Athletic Trainers provide education, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and referral to West Valley student athletes.

Our Mission

The mission of the West Valley College Sports Medicine team is to utilize current and effective assessment skills to educate all student athletes on the importance of a sound prehabilitation program to help prevent injury. It is also the team's mission to empower all student athletes to become active in assuming the responsibility of proper nutrition, a healthy lifestyle, and maximum effort throughout the treatment and rehabilitation process.

Where to Find Us

The Sports Medicine facility is located in the locker rooms of the physical education department, and is open from 11:00 am – 6:30pm Monday through Friday, during the fall and spring semesters.

Who is Eligible for Service

Sports Medicine services are provided to enrolled West Valley in-season student athletes. Out-of-season student athletes must contact their coach regarding the need for an evaluation by our staff. As employees of the West Valley College/Mission District, and due to liability issues, the Sports Medicine department will not evaluate West Valley PE class students, faculty and staff, minors and high school students. Additionally, care will provided only to student athletes who have been cleared by a current health screening examination by our team physician.
