After dropping a tough 3-2 match to Coast rival Gavilan, the West Valley beach volleyball team rebounded with a 4-1 non-conference win over the Big 8's San Joaquin Delta Wednesday afternoon in Saratoga. Vikings Mapuhola Sekona and Emma Blockhus (1's), Morgan Wright and Kaylin Henderson (2's) and Hunter Roberts and Katrina Hochmuth (3's) picked up straight-set sweeps. WVC 4's Kristen Hayes and Claire Danna rallied for a 12-21, 21-13, 15-12 win over Mustangs Kelly Markham and Mika Fithian, while West Valley's Lizhya Shoomoonof and Emily Mahoney dropped an intense 21-19, 17-21, 14-16 three-setter to Delta's Natalie Bianchi and Ashley Apel.
