West Valley Hosts NorCal Pairs Championship with State Tourney Berths Up For Grabs

West Valley will be the center of the northern California beach volleyball world Friday when seven teams invade Saratoga for the 2018 CCCAA NorCal Pairs Championship. Pairs from Cabrillo, Feather River, Foothill, Gavilan, San Joaquin Delta, Sierra and West Valley will compete for the NorCal crown and spots in next week's state championship tournament, also at West Valley. Friday's competition starts at 9:00am with eight matches: Molina/Bol (Cabrillo) vs. Lemmo/Pelle (Sierra), Hampton/McKay (Feather River) vs. Maffei/Green (Foothill), Banda/Leifheit (Gavilan) vs. Boerstra/Orteza (Sierra), Helekahi/Blackdeer (Feather River) vs. Fernandez/Lis (Gavilan), Schell/Schroeder (Sierra) vs. Dixon/Jensen (Gavilan), Sekona/Blockhus (West Valley) vs. Rowland/Shinn (Sierra), Merlino/Strickland (Sierra) vs. Wright/Henderson (West Valley), and Wilson/Hall (Gavilan) vs. Valdez/Sarkozy (SJ Delta). CCCAA championship ticket prices are: $12 general, $8 for students, faculty, staff (with ID), seniors and children under 12.

The West Valley beach volleyball facility ranks as one of the top sand courts in the country. Spectators can view six wind-screen-protected courts from bleachers and can keep track of scores on a new state-of-the-art scoreboard.
