West Valley hosted the 2018 CCCAA Beach Volleyball Team and Pairs State Championships May 10-12. Vikings Mapuhola Sekona and Emma Blockhus won their pairs pool Friday to advance to Saturday's Round of 16, where they fell 21-23, 16-21 to El Camino's Phina Leilua and Aiko Waters. West Valley's Morgan Wright and Kaylin Henderson went 1-2 Friday, topping Gavilan's Banda/Leifheit 21-15, 23-21 and losing to MiraCosta's Mason/Matthews and El Camino's Leilua/Waters. Near-perfect weather, exuberant fans, a state-of-the-art venue and the best beach volleyball players and coaches in the nation made it a memorable three days.
