Victimized yet again by mental and physical errors, quiet bats and falling behind early, the West Valley baseball team fell 8-1 to San Joaquin Delta Saturday afternoon in Saratoga. In the top of the 1st, the Vikings (2-2) gave up four runs on two hits and a pair of errors, including a three-base gaffe that resulted in three runs. The Mustangs (5-0) added a run in the 2nd on another WVC error for a 5-0 lead. Kevin Kyle struck out ten Vikings in six innings to record his second win of the season, and Beau Philip was 3-5 with a solo home run in the 4th. West Valley starter Andrew Tri took the loss. Rich Meyers went 3-4 with a double to pace the WVC offense, and Jake Pao drove in the lone Viking run with a double in the bottom of the 3rd. West Valley hits the road for a three-day tourney at Yuba College (2/8-10) and then a single game at Modesto Jr. College Feb. 13.
