Troy Gilmore drove in the game-winning run for the second straight game to lead the West Valley baseball team to a key 5-3 Coast-Golden Gate win over City College of San Francisco Tuesday at Valhalla. With the score knotted at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth, a two-out double from Kyle Ochoa and walks to Nate Maggi and Nate Petrov loaded the bases. Gilmore sent a 1-2 pitch down the third base line to score Ochoa and Maggi and give the Vikings (15-14, 3-6 Coast-GG) all the runs they would need. Petrov gave West Valley an early 3-1 lead with a two-run homer in the second, but the Rams (9-20, 3-7) evened it up with a pair of runs an inning later. Jake Pao and Hunter Schilperoort both went 2-4, and Sebastian Selway picked up the win, giving up seven hits and striking out three in six innings of work. Chris Henell earned the save, getting the final two outs after the Rams had runners at first and third with one out in the ninth. The Vikings host the College of San Mateo (19-10, 6-4) Thursday (4/5). First pitch is 2:30pm.
