West Valley's baseball team ended the regular season on a high note with a pair of wins over City College of San Francisco. The Vikings (21-19, 9-11 Coast) took care of the Rams 5-3 Tuesday thanks to Ruben Trejo's two-run single up the middle (see photo) in the second and Hunter Schilperoort's towering solo HR into the trees in left in the third. Zach Smits finished the day 3-4 and starter Sebastian Selway picked up the win. Thursday's 11-1 rout of the Rams (10-29, 4-16) featured 13 WVC hits from nine different Vikings. The top of the West Valley order led the way: Marco Salvetti was 2-4 with four runs scored, Hunter Schilperoort went 2-3 with a triple and two runs, Nate Petrov finished 3-6 with a triple, two RBI and two runs, and Jake Pao scored three runs. Starter Julian Ortiz claimed the win on the mound. Playoff seedings will be announced this weekend.
