The West Valley baseball team erased an 8-8 tie with three runs in the top of the 11th to outpace Chabot 11-8 Friday in Hayward. The win was the seventh straight, and 12th in 13 games, for the Vikings (15-8, 6-0 Coast-North). Evan Meier and Jacob Dressler led the 11th-inning heroics, but it was a long journey to get there.

The Vikings grabbed a 4-0 lead in the third on an RBI double from Connor Leaverton, RBI-singles from Dressler and Cole Murchison, and a SAC fly from Curran Ozawa-Burns. Chabot (11-9, 2-3) answered with a single run in the 4th, three in the 5th and two in the 6th for a 6-4 lead.

A Tristan Silveira SAC fly and a Dressler RBI-single tied it at 6-6 in the 7th. It stayed that way through nine, setting the stage for a wild 10th. WVC grabbed an 8-6 lead after Henry Wright drove in Aran Cox with a single and Jaden Mazzaferro knocked in Ozawa-Burns with another one-bagger. The Gladiators sent it to the 11th with two runs in the home half of the 10th.

Dressler drove in what would be the winning run with a single that scored Silveira, who had also singled. Another single, this time from Leaverton, had Vikings on 1st and 2nd. Evan Meier laced a two-run single to drive in Dressler and Zachary Apostolo, who was running for Leaverton. Chabot was unable to threaten in the bottom of the 11th, as the Vikings forced Matt Sugden at second to end it.

Dressler led the WVC offense with a 3-6, three RBI, two runs scored afternoon. Leaverton, Mazzaferro and Murchsion all had two-hit, one-RBI outings. Quentin Pohorski earned the win on the mound with a strong 10th and 11th in relief.
