The West Valley men's basketball team had four players in double figures but it wasn't enough as the Vikings lost a hard-fought 70-65 battle to visiting San Joaquin Delta Wednesday. Tyler Wright led the scoring quartet with 17 points, to go along with 10 boards and four assists. Devante Johnson finished with 13 points, six assists and three blocks, while Jacquez Walker had 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. Derrik Lawrence drained three treys on his way to 13 points. The Vikings (2-6) raced out to an 11-2 lead and were up 33-31 at halftime, but the Mustangs (5-1), behind a game-high 23 points from Spencer Monteiro and 19 from Cam Peiters, outscored WVC 39-32 after the break. The Vikings are off until Dec. 7-8, when they take on Siskiyous (0-9) on the 7th and Las Positas (4-0) on the 8th at the Skyline Invitational. Both games start at 5:00pm.
