The West Valley basketball team moved to 2-0 in the Coast-South with a dominant 87-68 win at Hartnell Wednesday night.
Adam Afifi's 18-point first half lifted the Vikings (11-6, 2-0 Coast-South) to a 48-34 lead at the break. Afifi added 13 in the second half on his way to a career-high 31 points.
Sufyan Elkannan posted a 12-point second half to finish with 18, while Michael Steward II hit double figures with 11. Dylan Johnston was a force off the bench with a trio of three-pointers, as WVC netted 14 treys on the evening.
Daniel Bost and Brenden Cannon paced the Panthers (4-14, 0-3) with 12 points apiece.
The Vikings host Monterey Peninsula (6-12, 2-0) Friday (1/17) in a key early season Coast contest. Tipoff is 7:00pm.
