A season-high 14 three-pointers helped the West Valley basketball team scorch De Anza 86-70 Wednesday night in Saratoga. The season-sweep-clinching win sets up a Coast-South Conference title showdown Friday night at Cabrillo.

The teams traded baskets and leads for much of the first half until the Vikings (16-10, 7-4 Coast-South) got a three from Devon Banks and a pair of free throws from Leland Estacio for a 41-30 lead with 4.2 seconds left. De Anza (12-15, 5-6) closed to within 41-33 on a Jordon Alexander three at the buzzer.

Back-to-back treys from Michael Steward II and Banks gave WVC a 47-37 lead at the 17:08 mark and the Vikings were in control the rest of the way.

West Valley equaled its season high 14 three-pointers with seven in each half, getting five apiece from Banks and Adam Afifi. The parade of long-range bombs was punctuated by a 30-footer from Adam Acevedo with 33 seconds left.

Baker and Afifi had a game-high 23 points each, while Banks finished with 17. The Dons were led by Luke Sayre's 18 and 14 apiece from Alexander and Dom Simpkins.

The Vikings head to Aptos Friday (2/21) for a regular-season-ending battle with Cabrillo (16-11, 8-3) that will determine the Coast-South championship. A WVC win gives the Vikings the co-championship with the Seahawks. Tipoff is 7:00pm.
