Monterey Peninsula scored on the opening posession for a 2-0 lead at the 19:37 mark. They would never lead again as West Valley turned on the jets and roared past the Lobos 85-66 Wednesday night in Monterey.

After MPC's Parker Hunt hit the game-opening layup, the Vikings went on a 17-6 run thanks to 11 points in six minutes from Adam Afifi. A pair of three pointers from Sufyan Elkannan and eight points from Mahmoud Elkannan stretched the Viking lead to 42-30 after twenty minutes.

Ben Baker caught fire in the second half, scoring 11 points, while Afifi and Fofana both netted ten. Fofana nailed a pair of free throws with 6:20 to go to boost the Vikings (15-3, 3-0 Coast-South) to their biggest lead of the night at 80-54. The loss dropped the Lobos to 12-4, 1-1 in the Coast-South.

Afifi led all scorers with 23, while Fofana ended with a loud 18 that included three rim-shattering dunks. Baker and Elkannan each had 16, and Quinn Denker joined the double-digit club with ten. Jayden Madise topped MPC with 20 points.
