David Chavez was named to the 2017-18 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America team and the All-Coast Conference 1st team to lead ten Vikings earning postesason accolades. The freshman midfielder from Redwood City (Sequoia HS) had six goals, including three game-winners, and 10 assists to help West Valley to 16-3-4 mark (10-0-3 Coast Conference) and a spot in the NorCal championship. Bo Antonissen (D) and Yannick Lamers (GK) joined Chavez on the All-Coast 1st team and were NSCAA All-Region selections. Jose Valencia (D), Bryan Palencia (D) and Mathew Cannon (F) were All-Coast 1st team selections, while Rudy Castro (F), Matthew Korpontinos (F), Pablo Ramirez Belmont (F) and Alexis Rincon (M) were All-Coast 2nd-teamers. Antonissen, Chavez, Lamers, Palencia, Ramirez and Rincon all return for the 2018 season, which begins Aug. 31 against Lake Tahoe CC at Mt. San Antoinio College in Walnut.
