he West Valley men's soccer team entered Friday's game against Gavilan as the CCCAA's top scoring side with 3.57 goals per contest. After its 10-2 win over the Rams, that GPG sits at 4.38 and the Vikings (6-1-1, 2-0-0 Coast-South) sit tied with De Anza atop the Coast-South. Makenna Pendleton led nine Vikings who recorded points Friday with two goals and two assists. Rodolfo Castro found the back of the net for the sixth straight game, giving him a team-high nine on the year. Alexis Rincon added a goal and three assists, while Thomas Barker (Andy Nunez assist), James Blundell (Miguel Paz), Jose Canada (Rincon, Michael Robles), and Matthew Korpontinos (Pendleton) each scored once for WVC. Starting keeper Yannick Lamers kept Gavilan (4-4-1, 0-2-0) off the board in 70 minutes of play. The Vikings' conference homestead continues next week as they host Chabot (2-5-1, 0-0-0) Oct. 2 and Monterey Peninsula (0-8-0, 0-2-0) Oct. 5. Kickoff for both fixtures is 4:00pm.
