WVC alum Castro tops San José St. in scoring, earns All-WAC nod

Former Viking Rodolfo "Rudy" Castro's first year as a forward on the San José St. soccer team wasn't much different than his final year at West Valley.
 
Castro led the Spartans in goals (9), Western Athletic Conference goals (8) and total points (20) to earn All-WAC Second Team honors as a junior.
 
In his sophomore season at West Valley in 2018, Castro topped the Vikings in goals (22), assists (19), points (63) and game-winning goals (6). He was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team, was the Coast-North MVP, an All-Coast North First Team selection, the West Valley Team MVP and the WVC Offensive Player of the Year. Castro was the obvious choice to be the 2019 West Valley Male Athlete of the Year.
 
The Lincoln High School (San Jose) grad finished his Viking career with 27 goals, 23 assists, seven multi-goal matches and 77 total points. The communications major returns in 2020 for his senior season at San José St.
