Lamers legacy in goal continues at NCAA DII Drury University

Lamers

One of the greatest keepers in West Valley men's soccer history, Yannick Lamers has continued to shine at the next level of collegiate competition. Lamers started every game during the 2019 season for Drury University, an NCAA DII school in Springfield, MO. He logged an 8-8-2 mark with a pair of shutouts for the Panthers, turning away 53 shots for a 1.31 goals-against-average. He had a season-high seven saves in a 2-0 win over Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Quincy on Oct. 13.

The architecture major from Cape Town, South Africa, had a 27-3-5 record during his two years at West Valley. He led the Vikings to back-to-back Coast Conference championships, giving up only 21 goals in 36 games played. Lamers had 20 clean sheets, a 0.61 GAA (0.48 in 2017), 135 saves and a .865 save %.

Lamers was named the Coast Goalkeeper of the Year in 2017 and 2018, was on the All-Coast First Team both years, and was a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-West Region selection.

Drury graduated only one senior from its 2019 squad. With 28 returning players, including a 6-3 senior keeper from West Valley College, the Panthers look to make some noise in the Ozarks in 2020.
