Viking to Vulcan: elite midfielder and scholar Bo Antonissen

Bo Antonissen

In the two years Bo Antonissen patrolled the pitch at Dick Schwendinger Field, the West Valley men's soccer team went a combined 31-5-6 overall, 21-1-4-in the Coast Conference, capturing back-to-back Coast championships and advancing to a pair of NorCal title fixtures.

With Antonissen leading the defense, the Vikings outscored opponents 133-32, 95-15 in the Coast, with a 0.76 combined goals-against average. His nose for the ball, physical defensive style, pinpoint passing and spot-on free kicks made Antonissen a two-time All-Coast First Team selection. He earned NSCAA All-Region recognition and was West Valley's Team MVP in 2017. He picked up WVC's Most Inspirational Award after the 2018 season.

After graduation from WVC, Antonissen took his work ethic to the University of Hawaii at Hilo, where, in 2019, he started 15 games for the Vulcans and finished third on the team in minutes played with 1341. He earned the Vulcans Hardest Worker Award and was named to the PacWest Conference Scholar-Athlete team with a 3.10 GPA in Kinesiology. The Herenveen, Netherlands native returns to Hawaii-Hilo for his senior season and will once again monitor the midfield with his indomitable presence.
