Jessell Lewis in the circle against Sierra

A two-run single by Alexandra Pussich in the top of the seventh led the West Valley softball team to a 3-1 win over Sierra, the state's 2nd-ranked team, Thursday at San Jose City College. Jessell Lewis tossed a complete-game gem, scattering six hits and striking out four Wolverines (11-2). With the score knotted at 1-1 in the final frame, Pussich singled to right, driving in Reina Maldonado and Haley Walker. Maldonado finished the day 2-3 with a triple, and Samantha Fletes went 2-3 with a double. The Vikings (6-4) host Lassen (4-4) this Saturday (2/17) at noon and 2:00pm.
