The West Valley softball team pounded out 17 hits in six innings to rout Modesto 11-3 Monday in Modesto. Alexandra Pussich led the Viking attack with four hits, including a triple, and four RBI in five at-bats. Siobhan Taylor was 2-3 with a double and a pair of RBI, while Samantha Fletes went 2-4 with two RBI. Getting two hits each were Maddy Lucey, Janelle McAfee, Malia Pula and Haley Walker. Reina Maldonado picked up the win in the circle, scattering sic hits and striking out four. Christina Perez led the Pirate offense with two hits and two runs scored in three AB's. Isis Figueroa Perez took the loss in the circle. The Vikings (9-4) have the rest of the week to prep for a challenging Saturday (2/24) doubleheader at the College of the San Mateo against the Bulldogs (13-2) and the College of the Sequoias (6-3). Game times are 10am and 2pm.
