The West Valley softball team saw it's 7-3 sixth-inning lead erased by a seven-run Hartnell sixth in a jarring 10-9 loss to the Panthers in Salinas Thursday afternoon. Malia Pula homered for the third consecutive game, her team-leading seventh, but the Vikings (12-9, 1-3 Coast-South) weren't able to overcome six errors and the one big Panther inning. Samantha Fletes was 4-5 with a double and there RBI and Alexandra Pussich finished 3-4 with a pair of double, two RBI and four runs scored. West Valley takes a short break from Coast action this Saturday when they host Fresno City College (14-5) in the Pediatric Cancer Awareness doubleheader. Game times are 1 and 3pm. All proceeds from this annual fundraiser go to pediatric cancer research.
