The West Valley softball team erupted for five runs in the sixth inning to key an important 7-2 Coast-South win over Highway 17 rival Cabrillo Monday in Saratoga. RBI singles from Reina Maldonado, Siobhan Taylor, Jessell Lewis and Maddy Lucey broke open a 2-2 tie and preceded a three-up-three-down Seahawk seventh to secure the win for the Vikings (13-9, 2-3 Coast-South). Lewis picked up the complete-game win in the circle, giving up four hits and striking out four. Lucey was 3-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and two stolen bases. The Viking homestead continues, weather permitting, with Coast crossover contests against College of San Mateo (3/20) and Foothill (3/22). First pitch for both games is 3:00pm.
