The West Valley softball team and the College of San Mateo were tied 3-3 after two innings after Malia Pula's league-leading eighth home run of the season and a pair of bases-loaded walks had the Vikings (14-10, 3-3 Coast-South) even with the state's top-ranked team. West Valley chased CSM ace Lauren Quirke in the second, but wasn't able to get a hit off Bulldog reliever Emily McAdams the rest of the way. San Mateo (26-4, 5-0 Coast-North) broke things open in the fourth with a pair of doubles followed by two singles that brought home three runs. The Vikings travel to Ohlone Tuesday (4/3) for a Coast crossover battle with the Renegades (23-7, 6-1 Coast-North) and then return to the West Valley Softball Complex Friday (4/6) for a noon game against Foothill (11-13, 2-3).
