McAfee Named 2018 Valedictorian, Joins 2017's Fenyvesi as WVC's Top Scholar

West Valley softball player Janelle McAfee is the 2018 William H. Cilker Valedictorian and joins men's soccer player Adam Fenyvesi, the 2017 valedictorian, as back-to-back scholar-athletes receiving WVC's highest academic honor. McAfee will graduate with an AA in economics and an ADT in business and has narrowed down her four-year college choices to Washington University in St. Louis and UC Berkeley (Haas School of Business). She has also been accepted at Santa Clara and UC Davis and is waiting to hear from Georgetown, Northwestern and Notre Dame before she makes her final decision. The former Los Altos high school player has been a two-year starter in left field for head coach Vicky Piatt's Vikings. McAfee finished her West Valley career with a .258 average, 51 hits, 33 runs, 23 RBI, 20 stolen bases and a .923 fielding percentage.
