The West Valley softball team stranded ten runners in dropping a 7-2 non-league game to visiting America River Thursday afternoon. The Vikings (2-1) left the bases full in both the fifth and sixth as they tried to climb out of a 5-1 hole. Hunter Miramontes blasted a solo homer to straight-away left in fourth as the Viking catcher saw her first action of the young season. Alexis Palmon opened the bottom of the seventh with a double to center and moved to third on a Carinne Peterson single. Palmon came home on an Emma Edmonson fielder's choice, but a strikeout and fly out to left ended the Viking threat. Palmon finished the day 3-4 and struck out three Beavers in relief of starter Ava Gonzales.
