Rhiannon Underhill hurled her second straight shutout and the West Valley softball team rallied in extra innings to steal a pair of wins at Santa Rosa Jr. College.
Underhill, on the heels of a one-hit complete game win against College of the Redwoods, spun a two-hitter in the 1-0 opener. The Vikings (8-3) scored the game's lone run on a Kassady Alcazar sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth that scored Emma Courtney.
The Vikings gave up a pair of runs to the Bearcubs (3-5) in the first inning and the SRJC 2-0 lead would hold until the fifth. The Vikings evened it up on a Paris Uribe RBI double that knocked in Abigail Desa and a Courtney single that scored Uribe. Isabella Gallegos gave the Vikings the lead for good in the top of the eighth as she drove in Courtney on a grounder to second. Larissa Higgins provided an insurance run with an RBI single that scored Kaylee Ramirez. Courtney gloved a two-out, two-run Santa Rosa liner to center to end the game.
The Vikings head north again for a pair at Butte (8-5) Feb. 18.
