One of the toughest schedules in northern California awaits the 2018 West Valley women's soccer team. The season will start out as hot as the late summer temperatures as the Vikings host 2017 NorCal playoff squads Evergreen Valley (8/24 @ 4:30pm) and American River (8/28, 4:30). Nine CCCAA playoff teams, including Golden Valley Conference champion Lake Tahoe (17-3-3), Coast-North champ Las Positas (15-2-2) and Coast-South winner Foothill (10-7-2) dominate the docket. The Vikings, who finished 2017 with a 7-10-4 overall mark, will field a sophomore-dominated side in 2018. Seven All-Coast selections return, including Coast Keeper of the Year McKinly Yeager, defenders Rachel Martin and Megan Sequeira, midfielder Melanie Asquith, forwards Daniela Mendoza and Alex Spatola, and goalie Samantha Coelho.
