Ashley Wallace's hat-trick ignited the West Valley women's soccer team to a 7-0 blanking of Highway 17 rival Cabrillo Wednesday in Saratoga. Wallace outmaneuvered Cabrillo GK Nicole Garcia just over a minute into the contest off a cross from Milka Perez for goal one. The freshman from Leigh also found the back of the net at the 11th minute (Daniela Mendoza assist) and at 54" (April Lopez). Jessica Cook (Payton Stauble), Drew Bozarth (unassisted), Katie Bonvicino (unassisted) and Daniela Jacquez (Lopez) scored single goals for the Vikings (3-0-1). Samantha Coelho had a clean sheet for her second shutout of the year. West Valley hits the road Friday (9/7) for a key early-season battle against perennial NorCal power Diablo Valley (2-0). Kickoff is 4pm.
