The West Valley women's soccer team ran into the Coast Conference's top goal scorer, Alex Augulis, in a 2-0 loss to Cañada Tuesday in Saratoga. Augulis collected her 21st and 22nd goals of the season in the first half and the Colts weathered a furious Viking attack in the second half to secure the win in the battle of first-place teams. The loss overshadowed a brilliant defensive effort by WVCs Megan Sequeira, who, after the break, kept Augulis off the board and dominated the Viking half of the pitch. The Vikings (10-4-4, 5-3-1 Coast-South) travel to Foothill (8-6-2, 5-3-1 Coast-South) Friday (11/2) for a huge playoff-positioning contest with the Owls. Kickoff is 12:30pm.
