The West Valley women's soccer team scored five minutes in and then hung on for 85 more as the 13th-seeded Vikings opened the NorCal playoffs by knocking off defending state champion and 4th-seeded Fresno City 1-0 Saturday in Fresno. Holly Hopwood converted an April Lopez feed before the popcorn had finished popping and then keeper Samantha Coelho turned away shot after Ram shot for the Viking victory. West Valley (13-4-5) travels to #5 Lake Tahoe (17-0-4), a 5-0 winner over #12 Evergreen Valley, Tuesday (11/20) for a second round contest. Kickoff is 5:00pm.
