A loss to the state's 2nd-ranked team couldn't dampen the excitement and importance of Sophomore Celebration Night for the West Valley volleyball team Wednesday. The closely-contested 20-25, 23-25, 16-25 loss to Cabrillo wrapped up the regular season home schedule for the Vikings (16-9, 7-4 Coast) heading into Friday's (11/10) season finale at City College of San Francisco. Mapuhola Sekona led the WVC offense with 11 kills and two service aces. Shyla Boeche handed out 28 assists and Morgan Wright had 20 digs, 10 in the tense second set. Sophomores Kristen Hayes, Hunter Roberts and Morgan Wright were honored prior to the start of the match. First serve Friday against the Rams (17-7, 8-2) is 6:30pm.
