Kaylin Henderson goes up for a solo block against Delta

Behind Mapuhola Sekona's 19 kills and a relentless defense, the West Valley volleyball team opened the CCCAA NorCal playoffs with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-19 sweep of San Joaquin Delta Wednesday night in Saratoga. The eighth-seeded Vikings (16-9) advance to round two Saturday night (11/24) with a 7:00pm match at top-seeded Cabrillo (26-2). Sekona and front-line mates Kaylin Henderson, Shannon Greene, Jenna Gomes and Rene Wash controlled the tape all night with feeds from Audrey Fernandez. But it was team defense - with diving digs and big blocks - that keyed the win. Sekona had four services aces and was backed by Henderson's six kills.
