In a rare mid-season, inter-conference match, the West Valley volleyball team swept Los Medanos 3-0 Wednesday night in Saratoga. The Coast-Bay Valley conference squads met for the first time ever, giving both teams a short break from conference action. The Vikings (13-7, 4-1 Coast) jumped out to 7-0 and 16-2 leads before cruising to a 25-11 first-set win. A 25-15 win in the second over the Mustangs (13-12, 6-1 Bay Valley) set the stage for a third set that was almost a mirror image of the first. WVC sprinted to 7-1 and 16-6 advantages before taking it 25-11. Hannah Moore led the Viking stat tablet with 10 kills, three digs and three aces. Rene Wash followed Moore with seven kills and Aaryan Hashimi knocked down six kills and notched 3.5 blocks. Hannah Reynoso came up with seven digs, while Della Trimble handed out 21 assists and Kayla Keller served up four aces. WVC returns to Coast action Friday (10/25) with an important tilt against Monterey Peninsula (8-8, 2-3). First serve is 6:30pm.
