WVC falls to UCSC, eyes De Anza in Coast home opener

The West Valley volleyball team dropped a slugish three-setter to UC Santa Cruz Tuesday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena. The Vikings (10-3, 3-0 Coast-South) will put this one in the rearview mirror as they prepare for Wednesday's 2021 Coast home opener against neighborhood rival De Anza (7-6, 2-1).

The Vikings opened strong against the NCAA D3 Banana Slugs, dropping set one 25-21. Sets two and three went to UCSC 25-11, 25-14. 

Katie Kishton, Belen Morgan and Taylor Tullo had seven kills each for WVC, while Sydney Rogers handed out a match-high 23 assists and Kate Blackwell came up with a match-high 17 digs. Blackwell and Kishton had three service aces apiece.

First serve against De Anza is 6:30pm.
