Vikings Rout Rival De Anza 23-2 Behind Ceballos, Esteves, Khatoon

The West Valley women's water polo team routed rival De Anza 23-2 Wednesday at De Anza to stay atop the Coast Conference standings. The Vikings (13-4, 5-0 Coast) inundated the Dons (1-5, 0-4) with 19 unanswered goals after taking a 4-2 first period lead. Sierra Ceballos and Sabrina Esteves led the offense with five goals apiece, followed by Maryam Khatoon and Alexandra Ruzsa with four each. Raquel de Pinho stopped five of seven De Anza shots for the win in goal. The Viking travel to Las Positas for the Coast/Big 8 Crossover Tournament this Friday (10/12). WVC battles Sierra (12-1) at 10:10am and Fresno City (2-10-1) at 12:30pm.
