Eight Vikings garner All-Coast nods, de Pinho named MVP

The recently-crowned Coast Conference champion West Valley women's water polo team dominated the Coast postseason awards, it was announced Sunday. Netminder Raquel de Pinho added to her 2018 Goalkeeper of the Year honor by being named the Coast Most Valuable Player. The sophomore from Brazil led the Coast with 21 wins, 236 saves, a 64.5 save percentage and 74 assists.

Joining de Pinho on the First Team were Sierra Ceballos (63 goals, 34 assists, 27 steals), Nadja Novakovic (92g, 39a, 27st) and Giovanna Valente Cardenuto (42g, 30a, 16st). Named to the Second Team were Alexis Goldin (40g, 17a, 31st) and Maryam Khatoon (35g, 22a, 6st), while Emily Fields (20g, 16a, 9st) and Maria Higginbotham (24g, 20a, 18st) earned Honorable Mention.

West Valley coach Erika Vargas picked up her third consecutive Coach of the Year award.
