West Valley's Kaylin Henderson and Mapuhola Sekona went 3-0 in pool play in the CCCAA Beach Volleyball Pairs State Championship Friday morning in Chula Vista. The three straight-set wins move Henderson and Sekona, the #1 north seed, to Saturday's championship round. The Viking pair opened the tournament against a familiar foe, Cabrillo's Ellie Cary and Jordan Skucius, and came away with a 21-19, 21-15 win. Henderson and Sekona dispatched MiraCosta's Shannon Evans and Hanley Lomax 21-14, 21-18 and then held off Long Beach City's Isabella Alvarez and Doris Woods 21-15, 22-20. Saturday's Round of 16 begins at 10:00am.
