The West Valley basketball team stayed in a three-way tie atop the Coast-South with a 79-62 win at Gavilan Friday.
The Vikings (14-8, 5-2 Coast-South) extended a 39-34 halftime lead with a 40-28 second half thanks to double-doubles from Adam Afifi and Ben Baker.
Afifi finished with a game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds to go along with a pair of blocked shots. Baker had 15 points, 11 boards and a trio of assists. Sufyan Elkannan was big off the bench, scoring 16, while Michael Steward II knocked down three treys to finish with nine.
West Valley has a BYE Wednesday and then hosts Hartnell (4-18, 0-7) Friday (2/7). Tipoff is 5:30pm.
