Jason Billie, a native of Milpitas and former standout college basketball player, returned to the historic Vikings program in July of 2019 under Head Coach Danny Yoshikawa. During his first year as the lead assistant, Billie’s impact was immediate, as he assisted the team in winning its first conference championship in over 14 years. As a former community college and NCAA player, Billie provides Yoshikawa invaluable experience and a unique perspective in player development. Billie's coaching resume is also impressive with ten years of coaching experience at the community college level and two years at the NCAA level.

Billie oversees the West Valley defense, along with his daily responsibilities which include recruiting, post-player development, coordinating travel/meals, team budget, game day operations, film exchange, daily practices, study hall, and the mentoring of student-athletes.

"He's been in their shoes, so he can relate" said Yoshikawa. "JB was a really good player here and at the four-year level. He's always around campus and he is someone the players know they can count on. Jason is an exceptional teacher and a great coach."

Building off the first year’s momentum, Billie has established himself as one of the top assistants in the Coast Conference and northern California by leading the Vikings defense to back-to-back Coast Conference championships and CCCAA state playoff berths. In 2021-22, the Vikings finished the regular season as the 4th best defense in the state, holding opponents to a 38.4% field goal percentage. Also, the Vikings finished #4 in the state in blocks (5.4 BPG). Through their stifling defense, the Vikings completed the season with 28 wins while going undefeated in conference for only the second time in school history. The Vikings playoff run ended with an appearance in the California state championship game.

Billie began his West Valley career in 2000 playing for CCCAA Hall of Fame coach Bob Burton. After graduating from WVC, he transferred to Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont, where he was a two-year starter for the Argonauts, Billie earned All-California Pacific Conference First Team honors both years. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Notre Dame de Namur University and is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science (Sports Psychology focus) from Pennsylvania Western University.
