Down 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth, the West Valley softball team scored eight runs to claim a 9-6 win over College of the Siskiyous Monday in Saratoga. Maricela Matos' solo homer started off the inning and then the Vikings put seven more runs on the board with two outs. Sierra Hillman laced an RBI single and Carinne Peterson clubbed a two-run single as the Vikings sent 13 batters to the plate in the inning. Alexis Palmon, on in relief of starter Ava Gonzales, shut down the Eagles on no hits and four K's in two innings pitched for the win. West Valley (14-12, 2-7 Coast-South) travels to Diablo Valley Thursday (4/4) for a pair against the Vikings(8-18, 3-11 Big 8). Game times are noon and 2pm.
