West Valley dominates the field at the Bruce Watson Invitational

The West Valley Men's water polo team improved to 14-2 with a conference win over College of San Mateo and three wins in the Bruce Watson Invitational. For the second tournament in a row, Berke Can made a splash with 15 goals. Not far behind him, his fellow teammate Phil Potisch racked up 14 goals and 16 steals. To close out the weekend, Ethan secured the cage with 22 blocks.

 

The Vikings opened the week with a 15-0 win against the College of San Mateo. On Friday, they matched up against Diablo Valley College, dominating with a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Phil and Frank Sunseri led the Vikings in goals with five each, while Shyan Rezani helped seal the win for WVC at 23-DVC 2, contributing four goals.

 

The Vikings then battled Sierra in the second game on Friday with a close first quarter of WVC 3-Sierra 2. In the second quarter, Berke Can and Shayan put up two goals each, and Terrance O'Donnell and Ethan McLeod added one each. Ethan once again closed the cage with four blocks, and the Vikings went into the second half leading 9-0, finishing with a final score of 20-6.

 

The Vikings closed the weekend with a win against the Southern California Cypress Chargers. With a strong victory of 20-5, the Vikings remained undefeated in the CCCAA tournaments.

 

The Vikings are traveling on Wednesday to Ohlone for conference play and then heading down to southern CA on Thursday for matches in Long Beach and Cerritos this weekend against Palomar, Cerritos, Long Beach, and OCC.
