New Student Onboarding 

1. Submit an application to West Valley College using OpenCCCApply: https://www.opencccapply.net/gateway/apply?cccMisCode=493

  • Verify Your Application using ID.Me: ID.Me Verification Guide
  • Within 24 hours of Verification, students will receive an email with their student ID (G0) number, WVM email, password, and registration information. If they do not receive this email, have them email askwvc@westvalley.edu.

2. Complete Self-Guided Placement Tool (NOTE: The Guided Self Placement tool is NOT A TEST.  You will be asked simple questions regarding your GPA and your most recent math/English courses. This will take only a few minutes.)  https://generalssb-prod.ec.wvm.edu/BannerExtensibility/customPage/page/studentPlacement

3. Complete the West Valley Welcome: (! REQUIRED to get Community Grant! - Pre-orientation takes an hour must use WVC email and password for it to count. Takes about an hour): https:/orientation.westvalley.edu

  • Log in as a student using your MyWVM Username. You received this username information in an email from “West Valley – Mission Community College District” when you first applied. Your default password is formatted as Wvm@(six-digit-birthdate: mmddyy). 

If the steps above are not completed, students will not be able to register for classes during their orientation or appointment and will likely need a second appointment. 

Free Orientations: Students should sign up for only one. All count for community grant

WOW: Students should sign up for only one. All count for community grant Sign up for and attend a 4-5 hour in-person. During the workshop, you will:

  • Understand the basics of transfer pathways.
  • Meet with a counselor.
  • Register for classes.
  • Fulfill requirements for Community Grant (Free Tuition)

  • Thursday, May 4 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM (In-Person)
  • Wednesday, May 10 from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM (Virtually via Zoom)
