As all eyes are excitedly turned toward next week's season opener at West Valley's Viking Field (watch this space next week for some amazing before-and-after photos), the premier softball venue in the CCCAA, Viking baseball's new Valhalla, currently under construction, should be in one's peripheral vision.

The new Valhalla, will feature a sunken turf field, expanded batting cages, a glittering locker room, coach's offices and umpire changing rooms, and state-of-the-art dugouts, press box and sound system. The left field fence has been brought in twenty feet, but now features a thirty-foot-high "Blue Monster" wall.

Fan amenities include fold-down chair seating for 500, berm picnic-style seating, sparkling new restrooms and a spacious concourse. A concrete path extends all the way to a parking lot beyond the right field fence.

Construction is slated to finish in time for the 2023 season.
