The West Valley baseball team used a three-run 7th inning to pick up its second straight one-run win over Cañada Saturday at Mission College.

Jacob Serpa ripped a two-run double, scoring Ryan Lordier and Minhyuk Kim, to stake the Vikings (14-17, 6-6 Coast-North) to a 2-1 lead. One batter later, Anthony Cortese knocked in Serpa with a sacrifice fly to center for a 3-1 WVC lead. The Colts (17-14-1, 5-7) would add a run in the 7th, but would get no closer, thanks to some shutdown relief pitching from Colin Trizuto.

Trizuto came in for starter Roman Connolly in the 8th and didn't give up a hit or run, striking out two, in two innings of work. Connolly, who got the win, worked seven innings, scattering six hits, all singles, and recording six K's.

Serpa finished 2-4 with two RBI to lead the six-hit Viking offense.

WVC begins a three-game set with College of San Mateo (23-8, 7-5) Tuesday (4/11) at Gavilan College. First pitch is 2:30pm.
