West Valley's Roman Connolly won Saturday's pitcher's duel with San Mateo's Joey Cirelly, leading the Vikings to a 1-0 win at Gavilan College. Connolly was in command from the top of the first, setting the Bulldogs (24-10, 8-7 Coast-North) down in order in five innings, including four of the last five. The Vikings (16-18, 8-7) had an error-free day in the field and ended the game with a 4-6-3 double play, as WVC took two out of the three games in the week's series.

Connolly scattered six hits, struck out five and didn't issue a walk in his complete game gem. He got the only run he would need in the bottom of the first on a Ryan Lordier RBI single that drove in Andrew Wilford. Both teams then battled through eight scoreless innings, a rarity in California community college baseball.

Wilford finished 2-4 with one game-winning run, while Tristan Silveira was 2-3.
