The Vikings had the Colts right where they wanted them. West Valley trailed Cañada 11-8 heading to the bottom of the ninth inning, but rallied for four runs, capped by Andrew Wilford's walk-off single to left, to win 12-11 Tuesday at Mission College.

The Vikings (18-21, 9-10 Coast-North) kept their playoff hopes alive heading into Thursday's all-important regular season finale at College of San Mateo (27-11, 11-8).

Cañada (21-17-1, 9-10) staged a rally itself in the 8th inning, erasing an 8-3 WVC lead with a pair of homers to tie it at 8-8. A Colt three-run HR in the top of the 9th put them up 11-8 and set the stage for an epic Viking ending.

Ryan Lordier started the rally with a solo HR to make it 11-9. Coach Rick Weins called on Eric Murchison to pinch-hit after a Tristan Silveira triple and two Viking ground-outs. Murchison sent an Angelo Ysalva offering over the right field fence to knot it at 11-11. After Daniel Major singled, Brady Greene came on to pitch for the Colts. He plunked Jaden Mazzaferro to put Vikings on first and second. Up stepped Wilford, who drove a Greene pitch to left that scored Major and touched off a Viking dogpile at second.

Wilford finished the day 4-5 with three runs scored and one important RBI. Lordier was 2-4 with four runs scored and three RBI, while Silveira was 3-5 with an RBI. Colin Trizuto hurled 1 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win.

First pitch Thursday at CSM is 2:30pm.
