The ducks were on the pond when Alan Ramirez sent a shot that cleared the fence, driving in Degan Davis, Josh Garcia and Karter Wong and boosting West Valley to a 5-0 lead at Gavilan. The Ramirez grand slam set off a Viking offensive conflagration that engulfed the Rams 19-7 in Gilroy Tuesday afternoon.

The Vikings (18-6, 4-0 Coast-South) would put four runs on the board in each of the third and fourth innings behind seven hits that included a Ryan Lordier three-run triple in the third and Logan Stelling's two-run homer, his team-leading eighth round-tripper of 2024, in the fourth.

While the Rams (6-18, 1-3) would counter with a three-run sixth and two in the bottom of the eighth, WVC would score two runs in each of the sixth, eighth and ninth frames.

WVC starter Adrian Valdez earned the win, scattering ten hits and striking out six in five innings. Reliever Will Pires closed it out with three K's in 1 2/3 scoreless, hitless innings.

Dylan Unangst and James Bose each had a pair doubles, and Unangst and Jayce Dobie knocked in a trio of runs apiece.

The three-game WVC/Gavilan series continues Thursday (3/21) at Valhalla. First pitch is 2:30pm.
