The West Valley men's basketball team enhanced its postseason possibilities with a methodical 78-60 win over San Jose City Friday night in Saratoga. The teams waged a close battle in the first half before the Vikings (13-13, 7-3 Coast-South) pulled away for a 32-30 lead at the break and a 46-30 second half advantage over the Jaguars (0-26, 0-10). Jacquez Walker scored 16 points to lead WVC, while Ryan Hewitt had 15 and Derrik Lawrence added 13. West Valley closes out its conference road schedule Wednesday (2/20) at league leader Gavilan (24-2, 10-0) and then finishes up the regular season Friday (2/22) at home against Cabrillo (19-6, 8-2). Both games tip off at 7:00pm.
