Afifi signs with CSUN after stellar WVC career

2021-22 Coast South MVP and CCCAA All-State 1st Team selection Adam Afifi has accepted a scholarship offer from Cal State University, Northridge. Afifi helped the Vikings to back-to-back Coast South championships and a 2022 state runner-up finish in his three years in Saratoga.

In 2019-2020, the 6-9 Afifi earned All-Coast South 1st Team honors after averaging 13.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 1.2 assists per game, as the Vikings won the Coast-South title. There was no 2020-2021 season, but, in 2021-2022, Afifi emerged as one of the state's top big men in leading the Vikings to a 28-4 record, a second straight Coast South title and the CCCAA state championship game.

Afifi led the 21-22 Vikings with 17.2 points per game and was second on the team in rebounds with 8.7 and blocked shots with 1.5. He was named the Coast South Player of the Year and earned All-Coast South and All-State 1st Team honors.

NCAA D1 CSUN is a member of the Big West Conference. In 2022-23, Head Coach Trent Johnson will lead the Matadors for the second season after stints as the head man at Nevada, Stanford and LSU, among others.
