A pair of Bryan Meza goals lifted the West Valley men's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout of Cabrillo Thursday at Dick Schwendinger Field.
The action picked up after a scoreless first half, with both sides missing out on scoring opportunities after the break. The Vikings struck in the 77th minute when Abraham Fernandez made a steal just inside the Seahawk half of the pitch and found Meza with a perfect pass that the freshman forward slid past a sliding Cabrillo keeper for the game winner. Meza would hammer home the clincher in the 91st minute off a helper from Alexander Valdovinos. Ryan Gardner and Inaki Suarez combined for the clean sheet in goal.
